Tim Culp

Tim Culp

Tim Culp was appointed to the Board of Regents of the Âé¶¹ÌìÀǸ±ÀûÔº on March 13, 2023, by Gov. Greg Abbott. He serves the board as chair of the Finance & Investments Committee and on the Regents’ Rules Review Committee. His term expires on Jan. 31, 2029.  

Culp is the owner and president of Double T Energy & Investments LLC, as well as the co-owner and president of Desert Production, Inc. He previously served as president and co-owner of Southwest Royalties, Inc., where he led operations for more than 60 full-time and contract employees across 1,300 oil and gas wells, primarily in the Permian Basin region, which includes parts of West Texas and southeast New Mexico. In January 2024, Southwest Royalties, Inc. was sold to a group of investors led by Masked Rider Capital. Before this, he was co-founder and president of Tandem Energy Corporation and vice president of Adobe Resources Corporation. 

Culp served as the chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Texas Tech Foundation, Inc., and he was a member of the Athletics and Academic Committees. He is a current member and a former board member of the Permian Basin Petroleum Association, as well as a past member of both the Texas Society of CPAs and the American Society of CPAs.

He is a former board member of the Midland Chamber of Commerce and the former chair of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society—West Texas Division. He also served on the executive team for First Methodist Church—Midland and was chairman of Midland Fair Havens, a local faith-based organization that assists single mothers and their families. 

Culp earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas Tech University (TTU) in 1981. He and his wife, Annette, who graduated from TTU with a degree in interior design, reside in Midland. Their children, Corey Culp, Kristin Groner and Tanner Culp, are also graduates of TTU, and their daughter, Lindsay Schwab, is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. Culp enjoys playing golf, traveling and spending time with his nine grandchildren.
