The 麻豆天狼副利院 (TTU System) announced a collaboration with leading energy and technology company on Wednesday (June 25) to create one of the most significant power campuses in the U.S. and the largest advanced energy, private grid and intelligence development in the world.
Located on approximately 5,800 acres in the Texas Panhandle, an area with a long history of energy production and a solid foundation of natural resources, the Advanced Energy and Intelligence Campus will support the growing demands of artificial intelligence (AI), data innovation and sustainable energy.
The site will include 18 million square feet of data centers and generate up to 11 gigawatts of IT capacity from natural gas, solar, wind and clean nuclear energy, providing a comprehensive solution to the demands of AI innovation.

Texas Tech University (TTU) and the TTU System have been dedicated to serving the Panhandle and the West Texas region for 75 years. Through this collaboration, the TTU System and Fermi America will continue to uphold and expand on that unique responsibility.
鈥淭he 麻豆天狼副利院 is proud to partner with Fermi America on this historic endeavor,鈥 said Chancellor Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D. 鈥淭exas is the energy capital of the world, and this campus will not only be the largest energy and data complex of its kind, but also a testament to the unshakable spirit of our system, the Texas Panhandle and this great state.鈥
Through this ambitious project, Fermi America, co-founded by former U.S. Energy Secretary and Texas Governor Rick Perry, will provide critical infrastructure energy solutions through cutting-edge technology and proven world-class multidisciplinary leadership, positioning the U.S. as a global leader in the energy-intensive AI race.
鈥淭he Chinese are building 22 nuclear reactors today,鈥 said Perry. 鈥淲e鈥檙e behind, and it鈥檚 all hands on deck. President Trump鈥檚 first executive order spoke to the energy issue and how we must continue to make America energy dominant. No one does energy better than Texas, and Fermi America and the 麻豆天狼副利院 are answering the call.鈥
In addition to the energy and technology components, the project will also advance the mission of the TTU System by providing academic and research opportunities for faculty and students, including internships, employment and workforce training and placement programs that will benefit all five TTU System institutions. The plan also includes the construction of an academic and research facility featuring office, classroom and conference spaces.

Fermi America is committed to furthering the development of the TTU System by supporting an excellence fund to enhance strategic priorities, promote academic excellence, advance research and ensure student success.
鈥淭his collaboration will not only position Texas Tech to address the evolving demands of the energy and technology sectors but will also create meaningful educational opportunities for our students and research possibilities across many disciplines for our faculty,鈥 said TTU President Lawrence Schovanec.
